Peace and Reconciliation at School
Peace and Reconciliation at School is a project funded by UNHCR, designed to promote a safe, inclusive, and harmonious learning environment in schools within refugee and host communities. The initiative focuses on empowering children, teachers, and school leaders to resolve conflicts peacefully, strengthen social cohesion, and foster a culture of respect and understanding.
Objectives
Equip students with conflict resolution, mediation, and dialogue skills to manage disagreements constructively.
Train teachers and school staff on peacebuilding approaches, inclusive classroom management, and supporting students’ psychosocial well-being.
Encourage collaborative activities that promote teamwork, empathy, and mutual respect among students of diverse backgrounds.
Strengthen the capacity of schools as safe spaces for learning and personal development.
Implementation
The project engages students, teachers, and school communities through workshops, peer-led initiatives, and interactive activities that promote dialogue, empathy, and reconciliation. We are addressing conflicts at an early stage, the project contributes to reducing tension in schools and creating environments where every child can learn and thrive.
Why It Matters
Schools are more than classrooms they are communities where children develop values, social skills, and resilience. Through Peace and Reconciliation at School, students gain the tools to navigate challenges peacefully, while educators build stronger, more supportive learning environments that benefit the entire community.
