Who we are
Similar Ground is a Refugee Youth-led Community Empowerment, Advocacy, Peace building and Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization that works with displaced communities founded in 2020, dedicated to community-based action, to secure, protect and honour the rights of children and young people, invest in their lives, build the healthy environments they need to thrive in, and empower them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.
We provide children, adolescents and youth with the opportunity to live in an environment of safety, stability and opportunities. Play and music are at the heart of everything we do.
We are dedicated to community-based action, to secure, protect and honor the rights of children, invest in their lives, build the healthy environments they need to thrive in, and empower them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.
Similar Ground is dedicated to see a happy, healthy and creative child and youth, whose rights are protected and honored.
To empower children and youth as agents of positive change within their communities by providing them with the tools, skills, and platforms to create lasting impacts while ensuring their happiness, health, and creativity.
To strengthen child advocacy and protection initiatives by collaborating with community stakeholders, implementing targeted programs, and advocating for policy changes to ensure the rights of children are secured and honored.
Our Values guide our behaviors day-to-day, informing how we act, the decisions we make, and how we work with each other, The people we serve, Partners that supports, and all our stakeholders.
In February 2021, Times for change initiative was registered with the Yumbe district local government as Similar Ground.
Today, Similar Ground strives to build and strengthen communities found in Uganda. It is a non-profit organization ran by volunteers found within the different communities. Over the few years the organization has been able to grow and develop into what it is today and continues to help thousands of individuals.
