Similar Ground worked directly with 17,827 children, young people, and adults through our programs in Uganda, particularly in BidiBidi Refugee Settlement and surrounding communities. This marks a significant achievement in 2024, reflecting our commitment to empowering refugee and host community youth through education, child protection, mental health support, and peacebuilding initiatives. Our efforts have continued to grow, making a lasting impact on the lives of thousands and strengthening community resilience.
Child Protection & Mental Health – 51% (9,092 people reached)
We provided safe spaces, psychosocial support, and family counseling to help children and families heal from trauma. Our efforts also included case management, community-based protection, and recreational activities to promote mental well-being.
Education – 26% (4,635 people reached)
We supported children’s learning by distributing educational materials, training teachers, and strengthening early childhood development programs. Our work also included music classes, school peace clubs, and parental engagement programs to improve education outcomes.
Advocacy – 20% (3,565 people reached)
Through our advocacy efforts, we promoted children’s rights, gender equality, and access to education at the local, national, and international levels. We empowered young people to raise their voices and influence decisions that affect their futures.
Food Security & Livelihoods – 3% (534 people reached)
To build economic resilience, we trained individuals in skills development, supported income-generating activities, and promoted sustainable agriculture. These initiatives helped families become more self-reliant and secure a better future.
